The most recent school placement I completed was a 13 week block in Saint Marys College naas. It was originally a 10 week block, but I stayed for an extra three weeks. I taught 12 classes over 4 days including 1st to 5th years, an AEN support class and fifth year visual studies.
I taught a wide range of subjects under art, craft and design such as surreal identity portraits, Cardboard construction bedroom dioramas, poster design, drypoint etching and much more.
The themes I explored with the students were Identity, wellbeing, SDG climate action, and Juxtaposition. During my time in Saint Mary's I completed CBA2 with 3 third year classes and started the junior cycle visual art booklet with the third year classes.
I completed another 10 week placement block in Pipers Hill College at the start of 2025 where I taught 8 classes from 1st years to 3rd years. I also covered a 6 week sick leave period for an art teacher where I took over his classes including the third years students at the final stages of their junior certificate project.
Throughout my teaching in Pipers Hill I taught a range of art processes such as embroidery, pillow making, Pencil portraits, and Landscape painting. I also taught fifth year visual studies under the section Today's world.
During my time in Old Bawn Tallaght I taught LCA, fifth years and second years. These classes were all team teaching where I taught with another student teacher. I also ran a portfolio class for students who were interested in attending art classes in the future.
Throughout each placement I did many hours of substitution teaching as well as extra curricular classes like art club, music club, portfolio lessons, afterschool art and Junk kouture
