Lost and Found in the Village
Lost and Found in the Village is an unfinished project. This is a documentation through print and mixed media of life as a queer person in a quickly changing rural village in Ireland. In this project I juxtapose the idea of time travel to a historical Ballymore Eustace, comparing it to today's Ballymore Eustace which is quickly changing and expanding.
I explore my own life growing up as a queer person in Ballymore, what it may have felt like before I was born and then how a queer person may discover themselves in the future of Ballymore.
A lot of the imagery I explore are images I have discovered from my own family archives hidden away in undeveloped film since the late 80s.
The idea of being "lost" comes from the generation I grew up in, where "queerness" was still in between being a sinful situation but was more accepted than in the generations before me. The idea of being found comes from finding a new acceptance in my queer identity in todays version of Ballymore Eustace.
